Natural Disasters and Coping with Them

Summary

The subject provides basic information about endogenous and exogenous phenomena occurring on the Earth. It makes students acquainted with the history of natural disasters (case studies).It deals with the description of the origin of earthquakes and slope movements, basic division of these events and with the principles of protection against them. It describes extreme meteorological events, floods and flooding (including extraordinary). It deals with winter climate conditions – ice floods, snow, avalanches, glazed frost. It makes students familiar with the basic methods of localization and suppression of forest and natural fires. It describes climate changes and crises induced by them. It deals with interaction between natural and technological disasters. Prevention of natural disasters, mitigation of consequences and coping with the consequences of natural disasters.
