Subject syllabus

1.BASIC TERMS IN CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT
Terms explanation, dangerous properties overview – physical hazard, hazard for human health and environment.
2.CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT
Management of chemicals and mixtures, life cycle, requirements of law for chemicals and mixtures, public health protection. State administration.
3. PHYSICAL HAZARDS
Explanation of combustion and explosion processes. Flammable gases, aerosol, oxidizing gases, pressurized gases, flammable liquids, self-reactive substances / mixtures, self-heating substances / mixtures, substances reacting with water to release flammable gases, oxidizing liquids and solids, organic peroxides and substances / mixtures corrosive to metals. Testing.
4. ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS
Hazardous to the aquatic environment - basic distribution, biodegradability, octanol-water partition coefficient, bio-concentration. Additional hazards- for the ozone layer. Testing.
5. HEALTH HAZARDS
Acute toxicity, corrosivity/irritation, sensitization, mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicity, specific target organ toxicity - single or repeated exposure, inhalation toxicity. Testing.
6. HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL RISK ASSESSMENT
Hazard identification, dose-response relationship, exposure assessment, risk characterization.
7. REGULATION CLP
Classification, packaging and labelling dangerous substances and mixtures. Globally Harmonized System.
8. REGULATION REACH
The principle of REACH, registration, chemical safety report. European Chemicals Agency. Supply chain information transmission - safety data sheet.
9. WASTES AND EVALUATION OF HAZARDOUS PROPERTIES WASTE
Waste categorisation into categories and groups; hazardous properties of waste; waste management, transport of waste.
10. SAFE TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES
The requirements for road and rail transport of dangerous substances and articles according to ADR and RID (classification of dangerous substances, the conditions for inclusion of hazardous substances into classes, classification code, tickets, equipment, vehicles). Requirements for the safe transport of dangerous substances in water and air.
11. OBTAINING INFORMATION ABOUT HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE
Analysis of the necessary information for the prevention and to intervene. Usage of literature sources, database, information systems – DIAMANT, HAZCHEM, TRINS.
12. NANOMATERIALS
Terms explanation, specific types of nanomaterials, management of nanomaterials.
