Security pyrotechnics

Summary

The topic builds on the already acquired knowledge in the subject "Explosives and the effects of explosions" in the bachelor's study program. Students get acquainted with the range of terms used in teaching, for their orientation in this area. Explain concepts such as - suspicious object, dangerous object and improvised explosive device (IED), clarify their purpose, composition, intrigue, effects and construction of individual elements. Analyze the initiation systems and representatives of explosives used in the construction of IEDs. Discuss the protective equipment of persons, especially heavy pyrotechnic suits, used mainly for identification, handling and disposal of IEDs. As part of the means for identification, discuss X-rays as a basic means of detecting IEDs, the types of its imaging capabilities of organic and inorganic substances, suspicious and dangerous objects and other components of IEDs. To acquaint students with the means for manipulation, verification and elimination of IEDs, remote ignition jammers and destructive devices. Clarify the detection of IEDs and explosives using cynological services, discuss the basics of forensic pyrotechnics, the importance of expert work in identifying traces and their preservation, state methods and procedures for identifying offenders - IED designers, types of pyrotechnic work and conditions for disposal of found ammunition. Emphasize preventive and safety pyrotechnic inspections of premises, objects and persons and state the means for their implementation. Discuss the typical activities of IRS units when finding an explosive, or IED, when using a radiological weapon and storing the explosive, or IED in an aircraft.
