Subject syllabus

1. Regions and their classification - regionalism and regional integration, theory of region, classification of regions in the European Union and the Czech Republic (CR), Euroregions.
2. Regional disparities - basic concepts, systemic backgrounds regional disparities, basic indicators of the level of states and regions, indicators of growth strategies in the EU.
3. Regional disparities and their measurement - methods of regional disparities measurements, regional disparities in the European Union and the Czech Republic
4. Regional development theory and regional policy - regional development and factors in regional development, modern theory of regional development and contemporary approaches to regional policy, types and instruments of modern regional policy.
5. Regional policy of the selected European States (I) - Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany.
6. Regional policy of the selected European states (II) - Finland, the Netherlands, Greece, Spain, Portugal.
7. The development of regional policy in Europe - the main milestones in the development of the EU regional policy.
8. Legislative and institutional framework of the EU regional policy - legislative framework of EU regional policy, regional policy management at the EU level.
9. EU Regional policy Instruments - European structural and investment funds (ESIF), special support instruments, financial instruments, Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance.
10. EU regional policy in the programming period 2014-2020 - architecture of the EU regional policy 2014-2020, legislative framework, programming documents, financial framework.
11. Regional policy in the Czech Republic – backgrounds and formation of the regional policy in the Czech Republic, legislative framework, support of regional development in the Czech Republic, coordination of economic and social cohesion in the EU in the Czech Republic.
12. EU Regional policy in the Czech Republic (I) - European Union funds for the Czech Republic in the programming periods 2004-2006 and 2007-2013.
13. EU Regional policy in the Czech Republic (II) - European Union funds for the Czech Republic in the programming period 2014-2020.
14. The future of EU Regional policy after 2020 - basic documents focusing on regional policy for 2020+, preparation of the Czech Republic for the 2020+ programming period.
