Subject syllabus
1. Introduction to the subject.
2. Forms of economic integration. The internal market and the so-called fundamental economic freedoms. Historical and political context of the creation and development of the EU internal market. Effects of the implementation of the internal market. Basic principles of the functioning of the internal market.
3. Free movement of goods. Territorial application of the free movement of goods. Tariff and non-tariff barriers to the free movement of goods. Exceptions to the prohibition of discriminatory restrictions on the free movement of goods. Harmonized and non-harmonized spheres. The principle of mutual recognition. Obligations of Member States.
4. Free movement of persons and the structure of the provisions on the free movement of persons in the internal market. Free movement of EU citizens. Right of movement and residence. General exceptions to the free movement of persons. Schengen cooperation.
5. Free movement of workers. Rights of workers. Employment in public administration. Recognition of qualifications.
6. Modification of the position of entrepreneurs in the internal market. Free movement of economically active persons. Freedom of establishment in the internal market. Exceptions to the prohibition of restrictions on freedom of establishment. Transnational forms of business companies in the EU.
7. Provision of services in the internal market. Content and mode of this freedom. Cross-border provision of services versus freedom of establishment. Exceptions to the prohibition of restrictions on the freedom to provide services.
8. Free movement of capital. Capital, payments and other freedoms of the internal market. Exceptions to the prohibition on restricting the free movement of capital. Economic and Monetary Union.
9. Encouraging entrepreneurship in the European Union's internal market. Legislation in the European Union and the Czech Republic. Public support for the protection of competition in the internal market.
10. Institutional support for entrepreneurship in the European Union and the Czech Republic.
