Subject syllabus

1. Materials: mechanical parameters of concrete, stress and strain diagrams, rheological properties of concrete. Mechanical parameters of reinforcement, stress and strain diagrams. Interaction of concrete and reinforcement, history of concrete, basics of reliability and limit states theory.
2. Durability of reinforced concrete structures, cover of reinforcement.
3.-5. Dimensioning of bending elements, limit equilibrium method. Slab, beam. Detailing of reinforcement of bending elements, drawing of reinforcement structures.
6.-7. Shear force bearing capacity, strut-and-tie model. Types of shear reinforcement, detailing of shear reinforcement. Punching and torsion.
8.-10. Eccentrically loaded (compressed) elements, buckling. Interaction diagram. Detailing of reinforcement of mainly compressed elements. Eccentrically loaded (tensioned) elements. Confined elements. Biaxial bending.
11. Serviceability limit states (SLS). Combinations of actions for SLS. Stress limitation, crack width. Deflection control.
12.-13. Basis of design of masonry structures.
