1. Introduction to bridge engineering, bridge terminology, basic division of bridges, main parts of bridges.
2. Structural design of bridges - principles. Bridge spatial arrangement.
3. Action on structures – Traffic loads on bridges according to EN 1991-2.
4. Pavement on bridges. Drainage systems on bridges. Bridge accessories and attachments, security devices.
5. Bridge fasteners. Bridge cross-over structures.
6. Bearings.
7. Bridge substructures – abutments, piers, pylons, wing walls.
8. Culverts.
9. Ultimate and serviceability limit states of the bridge structures. Basic principles on design of steel and concrete structures.
10. Reinforced concrete slab and beam bridges – basic principles on design.
11. Reinforced concrete frame and arch bridges – basic principles on design.
12. Steel and composite steel-concrete bridge decks – basic principles on design.
13. Steel and composite steel-concrete beam bridges – basic principles on design.
