The course deals with the area of digital construction and the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the design, implementation and use of a building or its disposal. These technologies are based on a sophisticated digital building model and the course includes an introduction to software support environments and shared repositories. The course will cover specific topics and solutions to sub-tasks in 3D models.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student:
- defines, describes, and characterises the principles of BIM design and approaches to data processing and integration,
- identifies, distinguishes, and interprets relationships between building information models,
- solves and demonstrates specific BIM design tasks within practical exercises,
- applies, uses, and operates BIM tools in available software environments, particularly Archicad and Revit,
- practices, produces, and manages building information models using BIM software throughout the design, construction, and operation phases of a building.
