Summary

The course provides students with basic knowledge of building information models and their application in structural engineering surveys. Students develop comprehension of the principles of building information modeling and the role of digital data in building diagnostics.
The course focuses on the application of available software tools, ranging from spreadsheet-based solutions to 3D BIM modeling environments, for processing and managing diagnostic data. Students learn to analyze information contained in BIM models in relation to the technical condition of buildings.
An essential part of the course is the synthesis of data obtained from building diagnostics into a coherent building information model serving as a basis for further technical assessment. Students develop the ability to evaluate the advantages and limitations of using BIM technologies in practical building diagnostics.
