Geomonitoring and reversal analysis

Course aims

The Content of the course is geotechnical monitoring methods using sophisticated control monitoring systems for not only in standard conditions, but also in extraordinary conditions. Attention will be paid to e.g. monitoring
systems using optical fibre technology, GPS and other advanced technologies that enable the monitoring of the measurement in geotechnical and underground engineering at a higher qualitative level. The student will be acquainted with the principles of individual monitoring devices, their suitability for use, technical, installation and any other restrictions, and the optimization of the
principles of geotechnical monitoring. The subject also includes the issue of the design of the monitoring project for specific real situation, in terms of monitoring objectives, methodological suitability, technological and methodological demands of the implementation measurement, correct evaluation and interpretation of the measurement results. One of the important sub-objectives of the subject is to familiarize methods of inverse analysis and their use for objectification of input data of mathematical models, forecasting of future behaviour geotechnical constructions and determination of objective warning conditions.
