Among the key tasks of construction experts is not only to design and build structures, but also to reconstruct, renovate or change their use. This trend does not only apply to older buildings, but very often in practice we encounter defects and malfunctions in new buildings. This course will explain how to identify defects and malfunctions, and not to postpone their rehabilitation.
Learning outcomes:
-explain the causes of defects and failures in building structures during construction and use,
-identify and classify defects and failures in building structures,
-propose basic diagnostics of buildings using appropriate methods,
-propose appropriate procedures for the remediation and reconstruction of building structures,
-assess the impact of failures and proposed remediation measures on the further use of the building.
