The subject Building Construction II follows on from the subject Building Construction I. Within the course, students will be introduced to various structural and material solutions for ceiling structures. Furthermore, the subject will discuss cantilevered structures, which include: balconies, loggias, bay windows, galleries, cornices, awnings and sunshades. Another topic that will be addressed in the subject is structures connecting different height levels, which include: staircases, ramps, ladders and lifts. Last but not least, attention will also be paid to the topic of floor solutions and expansion joints.
- The student will explain horizontal structures – ceilings, floor structures and suspended ceilings, staircase structures and other structures connecting different height levels, and flat and pitched roof structures.
- The student applies construction principles for the structural design of ceilings, suspended ceilings, floors, staircases, ramps and elevators, flat and pitched roofs.
- The student interprets the results of the design of staircases, ramps, elevators and elevator shafts, ceilings, floors and suspended ceilings, flat and pitched roofs.
- The student analyzes various structural variants that relate to ceilings, suspended ceilings, floors, staircases, flat and pitched roof structures.
- The student will compare the significance of the design in terms of construction requirements, from a material and technological perspective in relation to ceiling structures, floors and suspended ceilings, staircases, ramps, elevators and flat and pitched roofs.
