Introduction to the techniques of creating spatial models for the needs of an architect. Using different materials in architectural modeling. Volume Shortcut Practice. Learning outcomes of the course unit The course should build on the student's knowledge of Drawing and Composition, and develop these experiences while taking on new experiences in the subject of Modeling as a development of the ability to participate in Studio work, especially in composition and detail.
The aim is to master a spatial still-life in a clay or cardboard model in a given area and volume, ideally a cube 30 cm. To create, model, compose, correct and think - how to master the composition of 3 - 56 basic geometrical bodies.
The aim of this phase will be to practice the composition of bodies in space, search for compositional schemes, or relationships of bodies within an imaginary cube. In the second phase of the task of working with the composition in the mode of creating a new composition, work on the finished modeled still life will continue. The goal will be to supplement this composition with any other element. It was to be about incorporating another body or continuing the architectural composition by inserting other elements or elements or by rhythmizing the elements already given. The purpose of this exercise will be to supplement the composition, elaborate this model with another element or disrupt the finished composition. In the course of the work, emphasis will be put on thinking about this step, which should have a basic idea, a libretto or a connection with what it wants to be said to complement the composition. Emphasis will be put on the work during the second phase of the preparation of sketches and drawings on which the idea was intended to be elaborated;
The aim of this task will not be to dilate sculptural skills, but rather to work with the composition, to break it or insert another element, and to use the color in the composition, especially in materials such as cardboard, polystyrene or wood, consciously using the symbolism of individual colors.
In the third phase of the task, the finished composition will be transferred to the relief - the theme of still life / composition, in geometric form, ie the conversion of three, four or five objects into geometric relief, with the option of either modeling in clay, casting etc. or in other materials, polystyrene , hardened polystyrene, ytong, and the like.
