Summary

The course Elasticity and Plasticity in Civil Engineering will provide students with basic information about the stress and deformation of generally loaded member structures and simple member structures with respect to the basic modes of stress and elastic or elastic-plastic behavior of materials. The course also includes stability analysis of slender members under compression and an introduction to plane stress and the issues of planar structures.

Learning outcomes:
- define the types of stress on bar load-bearing elements and determine the relevant stress and strain,
- present basic information for analyzing the stability behavior of slender bars under compression,
- describe an introduction to plane stress and planar structures.
