Subject syllabus

1. Repetition of basic concepts of elasticity. Repetition of topics from Mechanics of materials I. Struts. Compound stresses.
2. Thin curved beams. Frames.
3. Thick curved beams.
4. Introduction to mathematical theory of elasticity.
5. Thin cylinders and shells subjected to internal pressure. Theory free from moment.
6. Thick cylinders.
7. Thick cylinders. Shrinkage allowance. Compound cylinders.
8. Rotating disc. Disc of uniform stress. Release speed of disc.
9. Thin circular plates.
10. Torsion of non-circular cross sections.
