Subject syllabus

The course is mainly devoted to the design of logistics units in the company, including design of objects, handling means in the warehouse during design material flows. In this course, emphasis is placed on strict application basic logistics principles in the field of transport, handling and storage.

1. Material handling and its importance. The position and function of transport and material handling (hereinafter MM) in the process of production, circulation and consumption.
Breakdown of corporate logistics. The essence and subject of the system approach in the design of logistics systems.
2. Engineering and engineering organizations in the conditions of market economy. Project progress, legislative background of projects.
3. Demand for project implementation, supply and its processing, tender, supplier model. Contract for work. Pre-project preparation (zoning procedure, building permit….).
4. Project phases in the design of logistics systems and their division. Logistics as a system, criterion functions of a handling problem.
5. Basic input data for the design of logistics systems. Block diagram of the process of processing a logistics system project.
6 Classification of manipulated materials and the role of material classification in the MM project. Parameters of manipulated materials deciding on the design of technical means in the proposed logistics system.
7. Layout solution of technological processes and connection with MM systems. Properties of logistics systems in classical types of dispositions.
8. Methods of disposition processing - triangular method, circular method, CRAFT „Relationships“ and their influence on disposition solution-table of relations.
9. Transportability unit. Material motion analysis. Representation of material movement in the project (diagrams, graphs).
10. Technical means for MM, their classification, selection methods (technical and economic point of view). Transport units, their role and creation, palletizing and containerization.
11. Paleograph and its use. Modifications and limitations in the design of logistics systems. Methodology for calculating requirements for the implementation of logistics systems projects.
12. Method of evaluation of variants in projects. Determination of transport capacity of transport and handling equipment (cranes, transport carts).
13. Warehouse logistics. Warehouses-functions, types and their projects, warehouse size design.
14. Warehouse technologies, warehouse machinery. Principles in the design of corporate rail transport-traction means on sidings.
