Summary

The student will be able to explain the basic principles of air flow around road and rail vehicles. He will be able to describe the formation of aerodynamic drag, lift, downforce and pressure field and their influence on the operational properties of the vehicle. He will be able to recognize the basic aerodynamic elements of vehicles and explain their function in terms of stability, consumption, cooling and noise. He will be familiar with the basic methods of testing, measuring and validating the aerodynamic properties of vehicles.
