Language of instruction angličtina, čeština
Code 345-0349
Abbreviation KM
Course title Structural Materials
Coordinating department Department of Mechanical Technology
Course coordinator doc. Ing. Lucie Krejčí, Ph.D.

Summary

The graduate of the course acquires an overview of the main types of engineering materials used in industrial practice, including structural and corrosion-resistant steels, steels with special physical properties, tool steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals and their alloys, polymers, composite materials, and ceramics. They understand the relationships between chemical composition, physical, mechanical, and technological properties of materials and their suitability for specific applications. They are able to assess the suitability of a material for a given structure with regard to required properties and operating conditions. The acquired knowledge is applied in material selection in engineering practice and in the design of structural solutions.
