Structural Materials for Nuclear Power

Language of instruction angličtina, čeština
Code 345-5303
Abbreviation KMJE
Course title Structural Materials for Nuclear Power
Coordinating department Department of Mechanical Technology
Course coordinator prof. Ing. Petr Mohyla, Ph.D.

Summary

The student will be able to describe the fundamental properties of structural materials used in nuclear energy and explain their behavior under conditions of high temperatures, pressures, and radiation exposure. They will also be able to identify and characterize selected groups of materials, including steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, polymers, composites, ceramics, and products of additive manufacturing technologies, as well as their applications in nuclear facilities. At the same time, they will understand the main degradation processes of materials in the environment of a nuclear power plant and will be able to assess their impact on equipment lifetime and operational safety.
