Subject syllabus

Lectures:
1. Switchboard, definition of the term, standards, legislation, division by type, spatial division of the switchboard, equipment, conditions of connection to the distribution network in terms of electrical engineering
2. Principles of design and verification methods of LV switchgear according to the standard IEC 61439, characteristic parameters, technical requirements, conditions for installation, environmental conditions, enclosure and degree of protection, assumed load factor
3. Construction of LV switchboard according to standard IEC 61439, production, tests and use
4. Thermal effects of electric current, heat transfer in the switchboard, dimensioning of conductors with respect to temperature, laying and grouping of conductors, permissible temperatures and current loads
5. Calculation of switchboard heating according to IEC 60890, switchboard cooling, heat exchangers
6. Force effects of electric current, dimensioning of switchboard conductors with regard to mechanical stress
7. Safety and protection elements of LV switchboards, dimensioning with regard to the correct function of protections, short-circuit analysis, Sicher calculation program
8. Principles of use and installation of surge protectors in the switchboard, types of surge protectors
9. Methodology of design of switchboard elements, temperature measurement

11. Dimensioning of switchboard air conditioning, Rittal Therm calculation program, link to EPLAN ProPanel design software
12. EPLAN Electric P8, creation of switchgear project documentation, EPLAN Data Portal, linking to Rittal Therm configurator

Exercises:
1. Calculation of electrical parameters of live parts of the switchboard from geometric dimensions, work with tripping characteristics of safety elements, connection request
2. Determination of assumed loads of the power system /house electrical installation, load list, electrical load list
3. Compilation of checklist to design switchgear assemblies in accordance with IEC 61439, determination of working conditions, choice of cabinet type, dimensions and size of the internal space of switchboard
4. Dimensioning of power system/house electrical installation with regard to temperature and storage
5. Calculation of contact resistance, power loss and switchboard heating according to IEC 60890
6. Calculation of mechanical stress of switchboard buses due to electrodynamic forces
7. Design of overcurrent and short-circuit protection of switchboard, calculation of fault loop current and short-circuit currents
8. Design of a house switchboard
9. Wiring and measuring the design of the house switchboard
10. Laboratory exercises
11. Working with Autodesk Fusion
12. Connection and measurement of the electrical installation of the smart house
13. Credit test, defense of projects

1. Laboratory task using augmented reality and integrating results into the design of a digital twin.
2. Design of an industrial switchgear using a digital twin.
