Summary

Upon successful completion of the course, the student:
– explains the operating principles of basic power semiconductor switching devices,
– analyses the operation of basic types of power electronic converters,
– applies semiconductor switching principles to electrical energy conversion,
– designs a basic power semiconductor circuit for a specific application,
– assesses the suitability of a power semiconductor solution for an industrial or commercial application.
