Subject syllabus

Lectures:

1. Cabling, types of cabling, types of connectors.
2. Structured cabling, panel layout, rack types, size, depth.
3. Basic network elements, management options, configuration - routers, switches, port-mirroring, etc.
4. Network solutions from various manufacturers - Cisco, TP-Link, Mikrotik, UBNT, Asus - configuration options, services, etc.
5. Basic settings of services such as DHCP - address pool, network ranges, DNS - static records, types of DNS records, basics of routing and Firewall, VPN settings.
6. VPS - what it is, advantages, disadvantages, providers.
7. Wireless network elements - basic configuration, coverage, MESH networks, client mode, bridge, etc.
8. Networks through electrical outlets - Powerline.
9. Obtaining knowledge in the field of servers - types of processors, memory, storage, NAS, SAN, configuration options, manufacturers, IPMI, network cards - various versions of SFP, virtualization and CPU support.
10. Principles of backup, types of RAID and configuration.
11. UPS - UPS types, UPS management, UPS supervision options.
12. Building and design of networks and network infrastructure - interconnection of 2 localities, terms such as whitelist, blacklist, etc.
13. IP cameras and technologies.

Exercises:

1. Safety of work in the laboratory, assignment of projects, consultations on projects.
2. Structured cabling - cable production, verification of cable functionality, example of server room.
3. Design of a computer network using network elements - management testing, logging, FW settings, routing.
4. Testing the possibility of configuring network elements from different manufacturers.
5. Creating a small computer network - DHCP server settings - static addresses, types of DNS records, basic routing, basics of VPN settings.
6. Presentation of projects No. 1, test.
7. Use of wireless network elements in the local network - setting of network elements in various modes.
8. Interconnection of multiple LAN networks with the help of wireless network elements - number of channels, transmission speed, security.
9. Presentation of projects No. 2, test.
