Lectures (the order of topics can be adjusted as needed, some topics have the scope of several lectures):
• ORGANIZATIONAL MATTERS OF THE SUBJECT.
Familiarization with logging into the network, important addresses, location of learning texts, conditions for obtaining classified credit. Detailed introduction to the content of individual lectures. Acquaintance with the operating rules of computer classrooms, as necessary conditions for their use. Sample examples in the Mathcad environment. Mathcad Standard Series and Prime Series Environments.
• PROGRAMS FOR PROCESSING MATHEMATICAL PROBLEMS - MATHCAD.
Possibilities of using these types of programs for solving standard problems of technical practice. Entering and editing a mathematical expression, calculating a simple expression, calculating a table of values, working with vectors and matrices, calculating and plotting a graph of a function of one variable, editing a graph into the desired form, working with three-dimensional graphs, using a symbolic processor to edit expressions, solving equations and systems equations, derivation and integration of expressions.
• MATHEMATICAL PROGRAM FOR SCIENTIFIC-TECHNICAL CALCULATIONS - MATLAB. Sample options including Simulink simulation framework and Toolbox tool modules. Getting to know the environment, the principles of entering and solving simple mathematical problems. The method of editing calculations, entering variables, defining matrices, calculating and plotting a graph of one variable.
SPREAD PROCESSORS – MS EXCEL. Possibilities of using spreadsheets for solving standard problems of technical practice. The basic environment of the spreadsheet processor and its modifications, types of data stored in tables and their editing, creating and editing a table, entering mathematical expressions and functions, absolute and relative addressing of cells, defining lists and sequences, creating a chart based on a table (including 3D), editing graph appearance, graph types, regression curves. Solving equations. Print table and graph.
• OPERATING SYSTEM – WINDOWS. Difference between character and graphics oriented operating system. The basics of working in the OS environment. Setting up and modifying the Windows environment using services from the Control Panels group. Basic Windows applications (Trash, My Computer, Places on the network, …) and groups of accessories (Character Map, Calculator, Paint (comparison of version properties), Explorer, Notepad, Wordpad, System Tools, ), a mechanism for exchanging data between applications via the Clipboard . The START menu and its settings. Comparison of Windows XP and 10 (or higher).
• WRITING PROFESSIONAL TEXTS - COPYRIGHT LAW, SELECTION FROM STANDARDS.
Correct recording of quotations, used literary sources, links to sources of information. Writing technical formulations, equations and expressions. Use of appropriate fonts for mathematical symbols and rules for writing functions, constants, variables and units in professional text.
• TEXT EDITORS IN THE WINDOWS ENVIRONMENT – MS WORD. Document style (Templates), page format, paragraph style. Working with blocks of text, working with paragraph styles, importing and creating graphics within a text document, creating and modifying tables, writing equations, headers and footers, numbering pages and headings, tools for checking spelling and grammar. Working with sections of text, generating content and numbering tables, equations and figures.
• GRAPHICS PROCESSING. The resolution of the monitor, the relationship between the dimensions of graphic objects displayed on the monitor and printed on the printer, conversions of dimensions and DPI. Vector and raster graphics, differences between properties of raster and vector graphic objects. Suitability of using different graphics editors for different activities. Raster and vector editor options and common functions. The way of working in the graphic editor, some graphic formats.
• PRESENTATION IN MS POWER POINT ENVIRONMENT. Rules for creating presentations. Procedure for creating a presentation using Power Point options. Comparison of creating presentations in Power Point 2003, 2007, 2010 and higher.
• INTERNET – BROWSERS AND INFORMATION SEARCHERS (OPTIONAL). Searching for information on the Internet (Google,...). Browsing Internet pages (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari)
Computer exercises:
- Getting to know PCs in the classroom, logging into the network, SW placement, PC and SW usage options, security training
- Practicing the topics following the lectures. The exercise takes place on a PC classroom with current software
- Final test – takes place in the PC classroom at the end of the semester
