In fourteen lessons, students will learn about the basics and content of public health care. They will become more familiar with the health system, its structure and management processes at multiple levels. The practical exercises are focused on the support of provided healthcare IT / ICT technologies. Public health topics blend with the basics of biomedical computer science.
The theoretical part of this subject will provide basic and broad information on health and medicine with a special focus on the place, role and safety of the use of a wide range of medical devices in the provision of health care. Public health is based on the assumption that healthcare is a system aimed not only at promoting and permanently improving the quality of health but also at ensuring the availability of health care in the population. Quality of the healthcare system is an important public priority, its output is a public good with a high human value that can be measured and constantly improved. The common content of teaching is information about the importance and objectives, focus, structure, function, competence and responsibility of individual components of the health system, its organizational systems with legislative focus on the promotion of medicine and the performance of health services of various types and forms, including community care and health care on selected population groups. The public health service assumes that the proper and safe functioning of any health care system, including self-provision, is essential for all health care professions, including technical knowledge, about the health system, the types and structures of healthcare facilities, the medical environment, staffing of healthcare facilities, economics, including the drawing up of investment plans, general and health legislation and knowledge on a number of other related areas, including the teaching, development, production, purchase, proper use, management and disposal of medical devices. In addition to the theory and practice of biomedicine, also the methods and knowledge of management sciences, healthcare legislation, the use of medical informatics especially in the hospital information system with the support of electronic medical documentation including its protection, health economics and social psychology. The lessons are focused on the internal structure, processes, inputs and outputs of the hospital as an example of the most complex provider of medical services, its technical development and investment activities, with regard to the internal equipment and safety of healthcare facilities - their distribution according to a number of views, and all healthcare professionals providing and guaranteeing the safe provision of healthcare.
