Electro-Acoustics Fundamentals

Summary

In Electro-acoustic Fundamentals the students are to revise and to extend their knowledge of physical acoustic, they will become familiar with sources of the sound (voice, music instruments), with features of human hearing and with consequent demands coming from these facts. These demands are mainly voice sensing, recording and reproduction. They will learn particular items of devices for voice processing, their design, construction and using. They will carry out with basic electroacoustic measurements. They will learn using of knowledge of the Theory of the Signal for audio signal processing. They will verify practical using of signal processors and modelling of processes connected to digitizing of audio signals. They will get asquainted with programs for audio signals processing. They will get to know how signal adjustment can affect its quality concerning desired effects. They will grasp the requirements for equipment and organisation of working in sound studio. Besides laboratory seminars where they will work with the sound and audio signals, they will also familiarize with real operation of sound studio in ČT Ostrava and Český rozhlas Ostrava. Moreover, they will get to know with application of low-frequency audiotechnique in measurements of vibrations, using flaw detectors and medical devices.
