Subject syllabus

1. Oscillation, harmonic oscillator, dumped scillations, forced oscillations, superposition of scillation.
2. Wave, wave equation, propagating harmonic waves, wave-transmitted energy.
3. Wave interference, standing waves, Doppler phenomena.
4. Electromagnetic waves, polarization, reflection and refraction, total reflection.
5. Interference and light, diffraction, coherence, Young's experiment, thin layer interference.
6. Limits of classical physics, photoelectric effect, Compton shift, wave-particle dualism, wave function.
7. Hydrogen atom, atoms with multiple electrons. Spontaneous and stimulated emission, lasers.
8. Band theory of solids.
