Physics of semiconductors

Summary

Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject belongs to the group of subject subjects, it builds on the student's knowledge of mathematics, quantum physics and chemistry, statistical physics and thermodynamics. In the first part, the student is introduced to the description of the electronic structure of various types of solids. An important chapter is an overview of the most frequently used approximations in the field of description of many particle systems and band structure of solids. The second part is devoted to the behavior of electrons in heterostructures and quasi-low-dimensional systems.
