Magnetic Measurements of Materials

Type of study Doctoral
Language of instruction Czech
Code 480-6018/01
Abbreviation MMM
Course title Magnetic Measurements of Materials
Credits 10
Coordinating department Department of Physics
Course coordinator prof. Ing. Ondřej Životský, Ph.D.

Subject syllabus

The subject extends knowledge of applied physics in the area of material magnetism. Main objective is to summarize measuring methods (SQUID, MOKE, AFM/MFM, VSM et al.) that are presently used in the investigation of soft and hard magnetic materials applied in the field of spintronics, electronics, sensors, and magnetic recording. Theoretical education will be supplemented by the practical measurements performed at experimental set-ups located in the research laboratories of VŠB-TUO.

Outline of the subject:

• Methods dependent on the change of material properties (Hall effect, magnetostriction, magnetooptics)
• Force methods (torsion magnetometer, AFM/MFM etc.)
• Inductive methods (stationary coil, SQUID, VSM)
