Mineral Deposits and Reserve Estimation

Summary

The student will explain the importance of mineral raw materials for the economy of the state and the EU, understand the terms mineral, mineral deposit and mineral raw material. The student will explain the factors influencing the importance and use of deposits. The student understands the mineralogical and petrographic composition of mineral deposits, their structure and texture, and the principles of classification. The principles of classification of mineral deposits and the geological conditions for the formation of deposit accumulations, the genesis of mineral deposits and their morphology are explained. The content of the lectures also includes an overview of the basic industrial types of ore, non-ore and caustobiolite deposits. The student will become familiar with the issues and importance of classification of reserves as well as methods for calculating reserves of mineral deposits and the relationship between calculating reserves and developing mineral deposits. The content of the lectures also includes issues related to the recording and balance of reserves of mineral deposits.
