Summary

The Methods of Hydrogeological and Engineering Geological Investigation course focuses on the methods and methodology of investigation works in hydrogeology and engineering geology. Particular attention is devoted to the design, implementation and evaluation of investigations for various types of structures, water resources, spatial planning, protection of the geological environment and other practical geological tasks.
Professional Knowledge: The student will acquire professional knowledge of hydrogeological and engineering geological investigation methods, their purpose, capabilities and applications. The student will become familiar with the different types and stages of investigations, sources of archival data and information systems, and methods of evaluating and presenting the results.
Professional Skills: The student will learn to select and combine appropriate field and laboratory investigation methods with respect to the nature and purpose of the task being addressed. The student will be able to use available data, plan investigation works, evaluate their results and prepare them in the form of an appropriate final report.
Professional Competences: The student will acquire the competence to independently design, carry out and evaluate hydrogeological and engineering geological investigations for various types of structures and practical geological tasks. The student will be able to select an appropriate investigation procedure with regard to engineering geological, hydrogeological conditions and the purpose of the investigation.
