The student explains the basic principles of maintenance, conservation, restoration, and renewal of technical monuments, is familiar with the basic system of heritage conservation and the related legal framework, and describes possibilities for the preservation, accessibility, and current use of technical heritage.
Skills: The student distinguishes between the basic approaches to the care of technical monuments, identifies the differences between maintenance, repair, conservation, and restoration, and relates these principles to specific technical monuments. The student is able to work with basic information concerning the protection, renewal, and use of technical monuments and assess their importance within industrial heritage.
General competences: The student assesses a specific technical heritage site in terms of its historical, technical, and social value, evaluates the suitability of the chosen approach to its protection and preservation, and justifies their professional opinion.
