Subject syllabus

1) Characteristics of deposits: non-ore, ore and coal feedstock. Prospecting and exploring the deposits, category of stocks. Founding quarries and principles for early development.
2) Overburden work when mining in the stone quarries, coal mines and gravel and sand quarries and when mining other raw materials. Methods of drilling in the quarries. Drilling rigs in the quarry and their use.
3) Mass production in surface mines, mining operations. Large-scale blasting works in quarry operations, types of primary blasting and its application in the extraction of cohesive raw materials.
4) Mining methods in the quarries for the production of crushed stone. Cyclic-continuous technology. Mobile crushers.
5) Secondary disintegration of oversized pieces. Loading of muck from a bench. Choice of optimal loading machine.
6) Mining in clay pits (brick, ceramic, glass materials, clays, shales, etc.) digging materials. Mining for rough blocks for rough stone production (hard materials).
7) Mining of blocks using stone-cutting machines for fine stone production. Processing of stone.
8) Mining of non-cohesive materials, choice of technology systems, mining operations by types of deposits. Technology for extraction of non-cohesive materials by dry methods. Technology for extraction of non-cohesive materials from water using excavators from the bank.
9) Technology for mining of coal deposits.
10) Technology of extraction of gravel and sands from the water using floating excavators.
11) Technological transportation at quarry operations.
12) Basic finishing processes after extraction of cohesive and non-cohesive materials. Principles for the development “POPD” (Plan of opening and preparation of deposits) (non- reserved minerals), technological processes.
13) Draining of quarries, dump and sludge management. Rehabilitation of the consequences of surface mining. Reclamation.
