Subject syllabus

1. Introduction to the subject "Occupational safety and hygiene". Introducing students to the content of lectures and exercises - course syllabus. Determining the conditions for completing the course, getting acquainted with the programs that will be continuously assigned. Recommended study literature.
2. Introduction to occupational safety and hygiene. Basic obligations of the employer in the field of occupational safety and health. Rights and obligations of employees. Occupational hygiene, definition, hygienic regulations, characteristics of the field, Hygienic limits and their creation and importance.
3. Categorization of workplaces, risk factors, risk work. Health problems and occupational diseases. Work and its complexity.
4. Energy intensity of work. Physiological and hygienic bases. Thermal comfort and thermal balance. Work performance and human workload. Consequences of workload on health.
5. Scheme of factors influencing the level of work safety, requirements for the working environment in terms of work safety. The influence of the human factor on the safety of the work process. Man's ability to work. Work and rest regime to the level of safety at work.
6. Environment for human residence. Indoor environment of buildings. Air pollution and air pollution assessment. Measures against the formation and spread of pollutants. Sick building syndrome.
7. Hygienic requirements for the working environment. Air, its composition.
8. Pollutants and main sources of pollutants in the working atmosphere. Risk of unsuitable microclimate. Temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and its measurements.
9. Risk of dust as a pollutant. Dust measurement. Permissible concentrations in the workplace. Noise and lighting as risk factors in the workplace, noise regulation, noise limits.
10. Load handling. Load when handling loads. Principles of correct handling of loads. Preventive measures for working with loads.
11. Protection of workers from unfavorable working environment. Personal protective equipment (PPE), PPE division and technical requirements for PPE.
12. Occupational health services as preventive health services in the care of employees' health. Preventive medical examinations. Obligations of the employer and obligations of the provider of occupational health services.
13. Emergency plan, its essence and content. Principles of providing first aid to the disabled. Means of first aid.
14. State professional supervision over the areas of occupational safety and health. State administration bodies, labor inspection and state health supervision.
