Course coordinator prof. Ing. Jan Kostelecký, DrSc.

Summary

This course focuses on the theoretical and practical mastery of methods for the statistical processing and adjustment of geodetic measurements. Students will learn to process redundant measurements, determine the most reliable values of measured quantities, and perform analyses of the accuracy and reliability of results. The course covers the principles of error theory, the law of error accumulation and weights, methods for adjusting direct, intermediate, conditional, and combined measurements, analysis of adjustment results, approximation of functional relationships, regression and correlation analysis, statistical hypothesis testing, and modern robust statistical approaches.

Specialized Knowledge: Students will acquire advanced knowledge of error theory, statistical processing, and adjustment calculations. They will understand the principles of the distribution of random variables, confidence intervals, two-dimensional errors and error ellipses, the law of error accumulation and weights, and individual methods for adjusting geodetic measurements.
Professional Skills: Students are able to independently process the results of redundant measurements, determine the most reliable values of measured quantities, and analyze the accuracy of the results. They can apply adjustment methods for direct, indirect, conditional, and combined measurements, analyze adjustment results, and utilize methods of regression and correlation analysis as well as statistical testing.
General Competence: The student is competent to independently design and apply an appropriate procedure for the statistical processing and adjustment of geodetic measurements, assess the accuracy, reliability, and quality of the results, and, based on the analysis of the results, select appropriate and cost-effective methods of measurement and data processing.
