Language of instruction angličtina, čeština
Code 544-0065
Abbreviation MvT
Course title Field Surveying
Coordinating department Department of Geodesy and Mine Surveying
Course coordinator Ing. Jiří Plesník, Ph.D.

Summary

This course focuses on the practical mastery of basic surveying tasks in the field and on the operation of basic surveying instruments and equipment. It builds upon the knowledge acquired in the course “Fundamentals of Surveying” and further develops it through both individual and team-based solutions to practical surveying tasks. Emphasis is placed on the proper preparation and organization of field surveys with regard to the required accuracy, the identification of sources of surveying errors, and the application of procedures to minimize them. The course also includes the preparation of measured data for further processing and the practical application of the acquired skills in subsequent geodetic activities.
Professional Knowledge: Students will acquire and deepen their knowledge of basic geodetic surveying procedures, the principles of operating geodetic instruments and tools, and the principles of organizing and preparing field surveys with regard to the required accuracy. They will also become familiar with the main sources of surveying errors and ways to minimize them.
Professional Skills: Students are able to independently operate basic surveying instruments and tools, prepare and organize field surveys, perform basic positional and elevation measurements, and continuously verify their accuracy. They can identify potential sources of error, apply appropriate measures to minimize them, and prepare measured data for further processing.
Professional Competence: The student is competent to carry out basic geodetic field surveys both independently and as part of a team, select appropriate surveying procedures with regard to the required accuracy, critically assess the quality of the obtained results, and effectively apply the acquired practical skills in subsequent professional geodetic activities.

General Competencies: The student is able to plan and carry out basic tasks both independently and as part of a team, organize their own work responsibly, critically assess the quality of the results obtained, and respond effectively to problems that arise. They are able to apply the practical experience gained to solve new tasks and further develop their professional knowledge and skills.
