Summary
The objective of the course “Bachelor’s Thesis Seminar” is to prepare students for their final state examinations, which include the defense of their bachelor’s thesis. The course covers the main principles of preparing a bachelor’s thesis, including its structure, the content of the theoretical section, an introduction to the relevant faculty guidelines, the content of the practical section of the bachelor’s thesis, citation principles according to ČSN ISO 690, and working with literary sources.
Students demonstrate knowledge of the faculty guidelines for writing a bachelor’s thesis, knowledge of the principles of citing documents, the ability to independently prepare and organize the structure of a bachelor’s thesis, the ability to process and evaluate measured data, and the ability to draw conclusions and present the results of their work.
Professional Knowledge: The student understands the principles of writing a bachelor’s thesis, its recommended structure, and the requirements for the content of the theoretical and practical sections. The student is familiar with the requirements of the relevant faculty guidelines, the principles of working with professional literature, and the citation rules according to ČSN ISO 690. They understand the basic principles of processing, evaluating, and interpreting specialized data, as well as the methods for formulating the results and conclusions of a bachelor’s thesis.
Professional Skills: The student is able to independently establish the basic structure of a bachelor’s thesis, search for, sort, and appropriately use specialized information sources, and cite them correctly. They can process and evaluate data obtained during the thesis and, based on this data, formulate results and conclusions. They can prepare a professional presentation of their bachelor’s thesis and clearly present its objectives, methodology, achieved results, and conclusions.
General Competencies: The student is able to independently plan and organize work on an assigned academic task, set intermediate goals, and continuously evaluate their achievement. The student is able to critically analyze academic information, formulate their own conclusions, and take responsibility for the quality of their bachelor’s thesis. They are able to defend their results objectively and clearly, respond to technical questions, and use feedback to improve the final output.
