Geophysics

Summary

The course provides a basic brief description of individual geophysical methods. For each group or specific method, the characteristics of the measured physical field, instruments, methodology of measurement and data processing, types of detected anomalies and their interpretation. It also introduces the basic use of methods in practice. It expands the basic knowledge of selected geophysical methods, especially geoelectric (resistance profiling method, vertical electrical sounding, resistance tomography and georadar) and seismic (straight, reflected and refracted wave method, seismoacoustic method). Together with gravimetric, radionuclide, magnetic and thermal methods and selected logging methods, students are introduced to suitable complexes of geophysical methods used in solving the geodynamics of the Earth, specific tasks in geology, hydrogeology, deposit exploration and ecology. The student will be able to process data and interpret measurement results.
