Summary

After completing the course, the student will be able to describe the basic principles of computer systems, operating systems and computer networks and distinguish their main elements. He/She will be able to characterize the principles of cloud and database systems, identify basic security risks and explain protection options. He/She will be able to select appropriate IT tools for common tasks and explain basic ethical and legal aspects of using information technologies.

Knowledge

The student will be able to define and describe basic concepts from the field of hardware, software, operating systems and computer networks, characterize cloud and database systems and identify basic principles of cybersecurity and related ethical and legal aspects.

Skills

The student will be able to distinguish individual elements of IT systems, select appropriate IT tools and services for a given task, classify basic security risks and choose an appropriate method of protection. He/She will be able to interpret basic information about the configuration and functioning of a simple IT environment.

General competencies

The student will be able to compare the possibilities of various IT solutions, explain their suitability for a specific situation and present the chosen procedure. He/She will be able to recognize basic security, ethical and legal contexts when using information technologies in practice.
