Environmental Management

The course introduces students to the principles and methodology of environmental management in organizations, with a particular focus on voluntary environmental regulation instruments. Attention is paid to various approaches to environmental management and their interrelationships, including links to sustainable development and current environmental challenges. Students become familiar with global development scenarios and their applications, the principles of eco-efficiency, product policy, and tools for assessing the environmental aspects of products. The course also addresses environmental and health risks, as well as the use of information systems and environmental informatics. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to explain the relationships between environmental conditions and economic development, identify and characterize the main instruments of environmental management, environmental protection, and sustainable development, compare their approaches, and discuss their benefits and limitations in the context of contemporary environmental issues and sustainable development challenges.
