Summary
The course focuses on the legal framework for environmental protection in the Czech Republic and its application to the activities of organisations.
Professional Knowledge: Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to explain and critically evaluate the system of environmental legislation in the Czech Republic and characterise legal requirements in the areas of waste management and packaging, air and water protection, nature and landscape protection, soil and forest protection, mineral resources, protection against noise and vibration, environmental impact assessment, and public health protection. The student will explain the interrelationships between individual areas of environmental legislation and their relevance to the activities of organisations.
Professional Skills: The student will be able to search for, identify and interpret relevant provisions of environmental legislation and determine the legal requirements applicable to a specific organisation and its activities. The student will analyse the organisation’s obligations in individual areas of environmental protection, assess compliance with these obligations, and identify potential deficiencies. The student will evaluate the legal implications of the organisation’s activities and planned changes and propose and justify an appropriate course of action to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
General Competences: The student will be able to independently and responsibly assess environmental legal requirements applicable to an organisation’s activities, continuously work with current legal and professional information sources, and critically evaluate their relevance. The student will be able to clearly interpret and communicate legal requirements to relevant persons within the organisation, provide professional justification for the proposed course of action, and assess the implications of legal requirements for the organisation’s activities and decision-making.
