The course focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of technological procedures for free and die forging of steel and non-ferrous metals. Attention is paid particularly to the free forging of large forgings made of structural and tool steels, as well as to their heat treatment. What concerns die forging, the focus is on traditional technologies using drop hammers and forging presses, forging on the horizontal forging machines and on controlled processes of forging of micro-alloyed steels. The basic theoretical knowledge about the structure and functions of forming machines will also be presented.
