Subject syllabus

1. Corrosion of metallic materials - characterization, description and drawings of different types of corrosion
2. Protection of metal surfaces against corrosion - the basic classification.
3. Surface preparation prior to coating (pickling, degreasing, polishing).
4. Theory of hot-dip galvanizing - diagram Fe-Zn protective coating microstructure, low and high temperature galvanizing.
5. Technology of galvanizing - discontinuous and continuous processing lines.
6. Theory and technology of hot-dip tinning.
7. Theory and technology of aluminum and aluminum based alloys plating.
8. Electroplating.
9. Chemical metal coating.
10. Finish anodic oxidation – anodizing.
11. Non-metallic coatings and layers.
12. Surface treatment of metals to improve wear resistance.
13. Internal stresses in rolled products and drawn wire – straightening.
14. Testing of material - list of special tests of mechanical properties and quality of the coating.
