Materials for high temperature processes

Summary

The concept of the subject is focused on both theoretical knowledge and application use of refractory, as well as special ceramic materials in furnace equipment. The student will be able to categorize of these basic properties but also description of special ceramic materials e.g. according to chemical composition, shape, bonding used at temperature higher than 1100°C. They will also learn about thermal, mechanical etc. properties. Student will be able to design the appropriate type of material for a furnace unit with regards to, for example, the fired/preparation raw material, across industries. The course includes field trips to companies for the production of refractory and special ceramic materials and the opportunity to meet expert during professional lectures.
