Energy recovery and treatment of waste

Summary

Human activity is linked to the production of waste. The aim of the course is to introduce students to modern approaches to waste management in the context of sustainable development and circular economy. The graduate will gain knowledge of methods of energy recovery of waste by oxidation, reduction and low temperature methods. Furthermore, students will learn about methods of evaluation of thermo-physical properties of fuels, calculations of combustion processes and heat balance of combustion units. Attention is paid to emissions from thermal plants, their monitoring, measurement and compliance with legislative requirements. The course also covers technologies that reduce the negative environmental impact of combustion processes
