Refractory and Thermal Insulating Ceramics Materials

Summary

The subject is focused on the theoretical and practical education in the field of refractory materials. Students will acquaint with the key concepts, classification of refractories, properties and methods of testing, chemical and mineralogical composition, mechanical, thermal, thermomechanical properties. The content will be the raw material for the production of refractories, drying and sintering and their division for shaped refractory products: silica, aluminum silicate, magnesium, magnesium-calcium, and magnesium spinel-silica, zirconia and zirconium, carbon, silica-carbide and unshaped refractory materials hydraulic, chemical and ceramic binder, as well as special refractories, lightweight refractory materials and insulation and fibrous materials. The subject includes excursions for students to businesses and consumers, manufacturers of refractory materials. Students develop semester project from the selected refraktory materials.
