General survey of phase transformations : Nucleation processes : classical
theory of nucleation and heterogenous nucleation, nucleation in precipitation
reactions, spinodal decomposition. Theory of growth processes : diffusion and
diffusionless growth processes. Morphology of phase transformations products.
Kinetics of nucleation and growth transformations. Phase transformations at
constant composition : polymorphic and martensitic transformations. Phase
transformations with change of composition : proeutectoid and eutectoid phase
transformations, bainitic transformations.
