Crystal structure of solids substances and the faults compatible with stressdeformation behaviour of metals. Phase composition of metal systems. Pure metals, binar systems, equilibrium systems of binary alloys. Basic theories of phase transformations. Iron alloys, their heat treatment and the resulting
structure. Non-iron metals, heat treatment and structure. Non-destructive defectoscopic methods. Mechanical and technological properties of materials and their testing. Non-conventional mechanical properties and testing. The degrada-tion of materials in the practical use. Evaluation of reliability and life
expectancy. Practical use of fracture mechanics at the evaluation of reliabilityand life expectancy. Basic remarques to material design.
