Computer Simulation of Metal Production and Treatment

Summary

The objective of this subject is to familiarise the students with methods of simulation and control of technological processes in metallurgy of nonferrous metals and special materials. Main themes of lectures: theory of automatic and optimum control, identification, mathematical modelling and simulation. Collection, transfer and processing of information. Materials engineering of nonferrous metals, refining and recycling. Use computing technologies for direct and indirect control of technological processes in metallurgy of nonferrous metals. Modelling and simulation of crystallisation processes and refining of metals and semiconductors, solution of diffusion processes. Optimisation of properties of metals and their alloys after thermo-mechanical treatment. Application of material software in teaching and research (programs HSC, TAPP, MAT.DB, heat treatment of low-alloyed alloys, prediction of properties). Creation and application of database systems for simulation of production.
