Intercalated nanomaterials

Summary

The subject relates to the students knowledge in the field of chemistry, physics and chemistry of solid phase and layered materials. At the beginning the lectures are focused on the explanation of the terms layered materials, intercalation and subdivision of the intercalated materials. Next part concerns with the intercalation chemistry with attention to the properties of the intercalated materials their host lattices, itercalation reactions and the methods used for the intercalation. Following lectures deal with the methods used for the study of the structure, texture and optical properties of the intercalated materials. The topics related to cation exchange phenomenon in the layered phylosilicates, organo-clay complexes, preparation and the properties of clay/(conductive polymer) composites preparation and the properties of photofuncionalized intercalated clay materials are expressed during next lectures. The introduction to pillared and porous clay heterostructures and the overview of the application potential of intercalated and pillared materials are studied in the last part of the lectures.
