Summary

The subject is focused on the area - opening materials of the sand mixtures, quartz and non-silica opening materials, granulometric composition, activation of the opening materials, regeneration. The bonding-agent systems I. to IV., generation, chemical treatment in preparation of moulds and cores. Mixtures with alkaline silicates, application of macromolecular chemistry in the bonding-agent systems. The principles of physical bonding, the V-method, the EFF-SET
process. The interaction of mould vers. Metal, defects in castings – effect of
mould and of cores. The gaseous regime of a foundry mould, burning-in of
castings. The lustrous carbon and its role at formation of the surface of a
casting.
